Χρησιμοποιούμε την/τις προθέσεις

At

· Όταν αναφερόμαστε σε συγκεκριμένο σημείο ή θέση.

Maria is at the front door.

· Για να πούμε το μέρος που συμβαίνει το γεγονός

There aren’t many people at the theatre.

· Στις εκφράσεις: at school / university / collage, at work, at home, at the top of, at the bottom of, at sea, at the station / airport, at the seaside.

· Στις διευθύνσεις όταν αναφέρουμε τον αριθμό.

 They live at 71 kalampakas road.

Όμως: In Jenis Karezi street.

· Για να μιλήσουμε για το σπίτι ή την επιχείρηση κάποιου.

Προσοχή

Χρησιμοποιούμε In για να μιλήσουμε για ένα κτίριο ως οικοδόμημα, αλλά at για να μιλήσουμε για τη λειτουργία του.

There were lots of people in the cinema. (Εντός κτιρίου)

There were lots of people at the cinema. (Παρακολουθούν την ταινία)

·  Για τις εκφράσεις:

On the left / right,

On a(n) / the platform / page / screen / island / beach / coast ,

On a map,

On a farm,

On a / the menu,

On the first / second floor,

On the phone.

Χρησιμοποιούμε την/τις προθέσεις

by

· Όταν μιλάμε για μέσα συγκοινωνίας

         By car / bus / train / plane / boat

Όμως: on foot (με τα πόδια).

Προσοχή!

δε χρησιμοποιούμε το by

· Όταν υπάρχει άρθρο ( a / an / the )

· Κτητικό επίθετο ( my, your, his, …)

· Γενική κτητική πριν από το μέσο συγκοινωνίας

On the train (NOT: by the train)

In your car (NOT: by your car)

On the two o’clock bus.

O the plain.

In Jim’s car

Χρησιμοποιούμε την/τις προθέσεις

· From…to/till/until για να δείξουμε διάρκεια.

I’m busy from 6 to/till/until 11 this morning.

· In για να πούμε πόσο χρόνο χρειάζεται να γίνει κάτι.

Mum usually prepares breakfast in ten minutes. Susan gets to work in twenty minutes.

   Δε χρησιμοποιούνται οι Prepositions of times

· Με τις λέξεις today, tomorrow, tonight και yesterday.

Let’s go out tonight.

· Με τις λέξεις this, last, next, every, all, some, each, one, any.

Art classes start this Friday. (Not: on this Friday)
